LACQUERED
Lacquered finishes give flutes a polished and aged feel. The flutes are finished in a style known as Fuki-urushi, in which select lacquer is applied by hand and dried in layers to produce various effects that accentuate the natural characteristics of the bamboo.
Maki bindings increase the tension along key points of the flute, potentially preventing cracks from forming. Designs include 'shihan maki' (partially bound) or 'so maki' (fully bound).
